Why Allah rejected Ancient Israel!
Assalamu’alaikum
May the sweet peace of Allah be with you today. May you have a knowledge of His Word as well as have the Word abiding in you.
There is a question which must be asked by all thinking Muslims from time to time. It is quite clear from the Honored Qur’an and from the Holy Books, that Ancient Israel, were at one time the chosen people of Allah. Then why were they later rejected? Was it because they refused to see the clear signs of Allah as pointed out to them in the Old Testament Scriptures?
Sura 5:44 It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.

What went wrong with the Jews? Why were they rejected from being the chosen people of Allah? Had they not been the people with whom Allah had worked with well over a thousand years? For these answers we look to the sacred Books which Allah sent down for our guidance and admonition. But first, our priority is to invite the reader to send a prayer (du’a) to Allah for we must not only be in submission to Him but also look to Him for understanding. Without the Spirit (Ruh) of Allah to guide us we will surely end up in error. We have not wisdom of ourselves thus we need to look heavenward for help. Just such help will be given us if we humbly seek heavenly wisdom.
Isa al-Masih foretold…
It is clear that Allah did not wish for the Jews to be rejected and neither for them to refuse Isa al-Masih! Allah had plainly foretold in the Hebrew scriptures how the Messiah would come. We wish to see some of these texts which the prophets of old revealed to the Jews through the Old Testament scriptures, and then how they were fulfilled so that none need be mistaken as to who was Isa al-Masih!
Isa al-Masih would be a prophet like unto Moses. This was written approximately 1451 B.C. Recorded in the Holy Books of the Taurat. Deuteronomy 18:15 Moses wrote… “the Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.”
This prophecy was fulfilled in the life of Isa al-Masih. In the Injeel Acts 3:20-22 written around A.D. 33 it says of Isa… “And he [Allah] shall send Jesus Christ, for Moses truly said a prophet shall the Lord our God raise up like unto me.”
That Isa al-Masih would be born of a virgin was also plainly foretold of the Prophet Isaiah. Approximately 742 B.C. Isaiah 7:14 “Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emanuel.”
This prophecy was fulfilled about 5 B.C. written in the Injeel it states: Matthew 1:18,21 “Mary [Maryam] was espoused to Joseph before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Ghost [Ruh of Allah].”
Even the exact location of the village where Isa al-Masih was to be born was clearly foretold. The prophet Micah of the Taurat. Micah 5:2 in 742 B.C. “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel, whose going forth have been from of old, from everlasting…”
Recorded in the Injeel we see the exact fulfillment of this ancient prophecy… Matthew 2:1 happening in 5 B.C. “Now Jesus [Isa] was born in Bethlehem of Judea”. In ancient Israel there were two different villages called Bethlehem, so to make sure that the correct one was identified the prophet Micah stated plainly that it was to be Bethlehem ‘Ephratah’.
The prophet Daud also foretold that Kings from the East would come to adore Isa and also to present rare gifts to Him. In the Zabur Psalms 72:10 is written… “The Kings of Tarshish and of the Isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
We find that this came to pass in Matthew 2:2,11 at approximately 4 B.C. “Wisemen came from the East to Jerusalem to worship him, they presented unto him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh.”
Regarding the manner of His work that Isa al-Masih would do was also plainly foretold. 713 B.C. Taurat Isaiah 35:5,6 “then the eyes of the blind shall be opened and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing…”
This prophesy was fulfilled in 31 A.D. Injeel Matthew 11:4-6 “Jesus [Isa] answered and said…the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached unto them.”
The prophet Daud even wrote in the Zabur that Isa would be rejected of the Jews. Psalms 118:22 “the stone which the builders refused is become the head of the corner.”
Fulfilled in Injeel Matthew 21:42. “Jesus saith unto them, did ye never read in the scriptures, the stone which the builders rejected the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.”
The fact that a close one from the disciples of Isa would betray him into the hands of ungodly men was plainly foretold by Daud in the Zabur. Psalm 41:9 “Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who did eat of my bread hath lifted up his heel against me.”
Fulfilled: Injeel John 13:18-21. “I speak not of you all: but that the scriptures may be fulfilled. He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me…verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me [this is referring to Judas Iscariot who that same night betrayed Isa to the Jewish priests.]”.
The prophet Isaiah foretold that enemies of Isa would abuse him. Written in 712 B.C. Taurat Isaiah 50:6 “I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame, and spitting.”
Fulfilled in Injeel: Injeel Mark 14:65 “And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him.” John 19:1 “Pilate took Jesus and scourged him.” [Had him whipped]
The ancient prophet Zechariah foretold the Isa would be smitten and his followers scattered. 487 B.C. Taurat Zechariah 13 “Smite the shepherd and the sheep shall be scattered.”
Fulfilled in 33 A.D. in the Injeel is recorded: Matthew 26:56 “then all the disciples forsook him and fled.”
The prophet Zechariah even foretold the amount of money which the Jews would pay Judas for betraying him. Taurat Zechariah 11:12 “if ye think good, give me my price: so they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.”
Fulfilled in 33 A.D. Injeel Matthew 26:15. “ and they convenanted with him [Judas] for thirty pieces of silver.” Also Matthew 27:3-5 “Judas brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, ‘I have betrayed the innocent blood’…and he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple…”
From all the evidence and much more we could relate, it seems strange that the Jews would reject Him whom was sent down. Yet we must realize that Isa did not come as the Jews expected Him. They wanted a ruler who would drive the Romans from their land. When Isa did not do this they refused to recognize Him. Isa was sent with a different mission. He was to be the sacrifice for the sin of humanity. The prophet Isaiah foretold in 712 A.D. that Isa would bear the sin of all. Taurat Isaiah 53:4-6 “surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Fulfilled in the Injeel Matthew 20:28 “the son of man came to give his life a ransom for many.”
But the ancient Jews rejected all this, and finally it came to the point where Isa told them… “Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.” Injeel Matthew 23:38 Both the temple and the nation were forsaken by Allah. In 69 A.D. Titus the Roman came and destroyed both Jerusalem, the glorious temple and over a million Jews. This lesson in history is for us.
Dear servant of Allah, today may we accept His ransom for our sins. May we not like the Jews of old reject Him whom was sent down. But rather accept the Offer of Mercy from Allah, which is Isa al-Masih. May we in humble submission, accept whatever is sent to us to save us eternally. We clearly have the example of the Jews before us who rejected what Allah sent down. Isa was the most powerful evidence that Allah could send, and He was rejected. We cannot afford to do the same without suffering the same eternal loss. Today may Allah grant you His eternal peace and forever more.
